Jonas had a vision: to start a small business that provides a quality service, while allowing the lifestyle the Okanagan offers.
He quit his job of nearly 10 years, sold everything, downsized and launched Solartech Films. Solartech was founded in February of 2011, starting in Vernon, BC as a mobile operation.
The first 18 months were challenging, the early, leaner days were supported by his wife. As work became more consistent, and now with a increased demand in Kelowna, a decision was made to move the operation into Kelowna.
Opening the Kelowna location in 2012, things took off, more staff was required. With the help of two key employees, the business has consistently grown for the past 7 years. Jonas says “today we employ between 8-12 employees at any given time and I’m very proud of the service we provide and the fact that we made it in the Okanagan”.

I’m very happily married to my best friend who should have won an award for dealing with me while trying to get this company off the ground. Together, we have 2 beautiful daughters that are growing up around the new and exotic cars seen at Solartech Films. We are a normal Okanagan family, we go to the beach most nights in the summer and spend our weekends at Big White in the winters. If I’m lucky, I get out on my dirtbike a few times a year and maybe even hit the golf course.
Randal is our Office Manager and has been with the company for over 6 years. Randal’s role at Solartech includes product advising, customer support, pattern modification and cutting, and more. He enjoys swing trading in equity markets, digital marketing, and touring on his classic BMW motorcycle. His interest in cars began when he began collecting Hot Wheels at the age of 6.
